JNE Distributes Clean Water in Central Java and Special Region of Yogyakarta due to the Long Drought

October 2018 – long dry season experinced by many areas in Central Java and Special Region of Yogyakarta Has resulted in people's difficulty to obtain clean water. In various isolated village areas, many people should take dozens of kilometers to obtain clean water supply from the remaining water sources distance in each related villages.

Thus, JNE is encouraged to ease the people's burden, especially those located in several areas experiencing the long drought in Central Java and Yogyakarta. Since September, JNE has made social services by distributing clean water to several areas in Central Java and the special region of Yogyakarta.

The first stage made by JNE Semarang and JNE Purwodadi on last Sunday 9/9, was dropping the clean water in Grobogan Regency located in the north part of Semarang. There were 10 tanks of water distributed to Ngasem Hamlet, Monggot sub-district, Gundih district, Grobogan regency.

The clean water was also dropped by JNE Sragen on Sunday 9/16 in Sragen Regency. In this second assistance stage, the clean water is distributed to Tangen and Jenar district.

Marsudi, JNE Jateng-DIY Regional Head, in his welcoming speech while distributing the assistance to one location which urgently require clean water dropping known as Tungu hamlet, Girimulyo sub-district, Panggang district, Gunungkidul Regency, said, “Today, Thursday 10/4, I am accompanied by JNE Yogyakarta continue distributing the clean water assistance program to ease Tugu people's burden who should spend IDR150,000-185,000 for 1 tank of clean water to fulfill their daily need. The impacts of drought are also experienced by many people living in the other areas of Central Java and Yogyakarta ”.

Adi Subagyo, JNE Yogyakarta Branch Manager, simbolically handed over the assistance containing of 50 tanks of clean water which were further distributed to 10 RT (smallest administrative governance) of Tungu Hamlet along with the grossary packages for the poors. Adi also asked Tungu people and JNE employees both male and female to gracefully thank the conditions although now still in difficult time, yet it is still much better when compared to those experienced by Lombok and Palu people due to the recently striking natural disasters. 

Suprihatin, Head of Tungu Hamlet said that there are 226 Heads of family in Tugu Hamlet and 121 of those are classified into poor people. Thus, Tungu people would like to express their deepest gratitude to JNE for its great concern to Tungu people who have been facing the drought since last April.
