December 2021 – Indonesia is once again put to the test by a variety of natural disasters in various parts of the country. Last Saturday, 4/12, Mount Semeru erupted in Lumajang, East Java, causing infrastructure damage and fatalities.
This incident prompted JNE to act quickly to help. JNE presented a Rp. 100,000,000 donations to the Dompet Kemanusiaan Media Group on Wednesday (8/12) at the Grand Studio Lobby of Metro TV (DKMG). This donation will be used to construct a public kitchen for Mount Semeru eruption victims. M. Feriadi Soeprapto, President Director of JNE, personally handed over the donation, which was accepted by Ali Sadikin, Chairman of the Media Group Dompet Kehumanan Foundation. At the same time, JNE will hand over the delivery of medical equipment assistance to the Pronojiwo Health Center in Lumajang, East Java.
Furthermore, JNE facilitates the distribution of relief goods from communities throughout Indonesia to victims of the Mount Semeru eruption. JNE covers the cost of sending aid through the JNE Cares for Semeru Disaster program. The provisions for delivering assistance, which include a maximum weight of 10 kg per shipment and a maximum of 5 shipments per sender, do not apply to shipments of wet, perishable food, liquids, and clothing. This natural disaster aid can be delivered via the JNE Probolinggo Main Branch Office Disaster Post (cannot be sent to a personal address). This program is valid at all JNE Main Branch Offices in Indonesia from December 8 to December 13, 2021.
"The JNE Cares for Disaster Program is a form of JNE's commitment to continue to contribute in providing the maximum benefit to the community, in accordance with the spirit of "Connecting Happiness," which is JNE's tagline," said Eri Palgunadi, JNE's VP of Marketing. We hope that by implementing this program, we will be able to assist our brothers and sisters who are currently victims of the disaster in Lumajang, East Java."
According to Putra Cahyadhi M, Head of JNE Probolinggo Branch, since the eruption in Lumajang, East Java, JNE Probolinggo and JNE Lumajang have moved quickly to assist the community. One of them is coordinating with the Main Command Post and centralizing JNE assistance at the Penanggal Village Main Refugee Post. Along with the JNE team, they worked with the Gusdurian network to distribute aid in the form of medicines, basic necessities, mats, blankets, ready-to-eat food, and diapers to residents affected by the eruption.
Putra went on to say that the assistance would continue despite the victims' poor condition in some areas. "Good synergy, support, and cooperation with the government, communities, and other institutions will greatly facilitate the rapid distribution of aid to victims of the current natural disaster," he concluded.
