October 2018 - August 5, 2018, an earthquake with the magnitude up to 7 Richter scale has devastated Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara. This heartbreaking incident has encouraged JNE to provide contribution to reduce the burden of this natural disaster’s victims. With its capabilities supported by 6000 service points and 40,000 employees throughout the archipelago, JNE has succeeded distributing its assistance in the form of goods from the customers and cash raised from the internal employees.
In distributing the goods, JNE has established JNE Mataram Disaster Post located on Jl. Amir Hamzah No. 102 Mataram, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. This post did not only involve JNE Mataram employees, but also the representatives from each branch in East Java, Bali, East Nusa Tenggara and West Nusa Tenggara Regions that a total of 103 tons of goods have been successfully distributed. Meanwhile, the cash collected from JNE employees throughout Indonesia reaching approximately IDR214 million is realized in the form of assistance for JNE Mataram employees and those living in the surrounding areas to build the Integrated Community Shelter (ICS) in collaboration with the Indonesian Foundation for Humanitarian Care Fast Response Action (Lembaga Kemanusiaaan Aksi Cepat Tanggap or in Indonesia known as ACT).
In this ICS, JNE has supported the construction of 2 (two) shelters in the area of Gondang Field, North Lombok. ICS is an area or complex consisting of several temporary shelter units equipped with public toilet facilities, worshiping sites, waqf groceries for the surrounding people’s shopping daily needs, humanity stores which provide staple food packages for 1 (one) week food supply, emergency schools, public kitchens, trauma healing, children's playground facilities, and medical services.
On September 10, JNE Management had an opportunity to visit the shelters established in the area of Gondang Field. During his visit, JNE Director, Chandra Fireta said, "The construction of these shelters is a form of JNE's concern as a national company to provide assistance to reduce the burden of earthquake victims in Lombok. Due to its journey to the age of 28 in Indonesia, JNE does not only focus on its business development but also its active role in performing social activities."
In this great opportunity, Chandra Fireta, had also an opportunity to provide direct assistance to the earthquake victims in Lombok living in these temporary shelters. The event was also attended by JNE Director, Edi Santoso; JNE VP of Quality Assurance, Samsul Djamaludin; JNE VP of Marketing, Eri Palgunadi; JNE Head of National Operation Division, Jontri Kusnanto; and JNE Mataram Branch Manager, Misty Lulu Indrayani.
In addition to the shelter construction, JNE has also provided assistance to distribute the goods collected from all Indonesian people to those living in 72 ACT shelters spread throughout Lombok and its surroundings. Each shelter may fulfill the refugees’ needs in several areas, including: 13 posts in West Lombok Regency (covering the area of Gunung Sari, Narmada, Batu Layar), 30 posts in North Lombok Regency (covering the area of Pemenang, Tanjung, Kayangan, Gangga, Bayan ), 18 posts in East Lombok Regency (covering the area of Sembalun, Sambelia, Pringgabaya, Pringgasela Terara), 10 posts in Central Lombok Regency (covering the areas of Kopang, Pringgantara, Batuk Liang), and 1 post in West Sumbawa Regency (covering the area of Alas District) .
The donation raising program for the earthquake victims in Lombok was conducted starting from August 11 to August 19, 2018 through the main branch offices in 54 cities throughout Indonesia. JNE has provided opportunities for all people to deliver their aids in the form of goods with the maximum weight limit of 10 kg per package without any charge. In addition, the fund raising process internally from all JNE employees throughout the archipelago has started from August 8 to August 20, 2018.
